Gevorg Gharibyan, Acting Head of the Children and Social Protection Department of the Yerevan Municipality Staff, was in Vilnius to participate in the International Congress and the “Rise Up” conference organized by the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN) from October 5 to 10.
Within the framework of the conference, Gevorg Gharibyan made a report, touching upon the strengthening, financing and expansion of the Social Services workforce as a key pillar of child protection systems, the reform of the Child Protection System in Armenia, and the experience of Yerevan.
During the visit, he met with Vilnius Deputy Mayor Simona Bieliune, Deputy Director of the Social Services Center Tomasz Miśkiewicz, and representatives of educational institutions, discussing opportunities for cooperation and exchange of experience.
The head of the department was awarded a lifetime membership by ISPCAN representative Pragathi Tummala, for his contribution to the field of child protection.
An agreement was reached to include the Yerevan Municipality, represented by the Department of Children and Social Protection of the staff, in the list of ISPCAN partner institutions.
It was proposed to publish the experience of the Yerevan Municipality in the ISPCAN scientific journal “Child Protection and Practice”.
