– US President Donald Trump left for London for the second time on a state visit. What was the significance of this visit, and what main agreements were reached? In particular, how can these agreements affect the conflict?
– Great Britain, especially after Brexit, is the European community of the US. Every global position and step is coordinated between the two countries. Both the European and South Caucasus processes are coordinated in connection with economic and trade issues.
– Trump has stated that he is disappointed with Putin. He has made similar statements in the past, but at the same time, contacts continue, and steps are being taken to resolve the issue. How would you comment on these contradictory developments?
– Seemingly contradictory, in essence, tactical. On the one hand, to pressure, and on the other hand, to negotiate. By the way, this does not only apply to Moscow.
– Can we still say that, despite the harsh public statements, there is a particular understanding between the US and Russia, or at least the parties are avoiding open conflict?
– Definitely. Proxies will continue in different environments, in various forms and formats. The red lines will not be crossed directly in the US-Russia relationship.
– Trump mentioned on his social network about the meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan that took place near him and the agreements reached. After that, the leaders of the two countries expressed their gratitude. What did this reminder mean, and what prospects can the process have?
– The message is rather a reminder to Moscow. Washington says that it is the guarantor, mediator, and regulator in this conflict.
