Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the country’s enriched uranium reserves have been destroyed in recent attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. The diplomat said this on state television.
“Everything related to our nuclear materials is in ruins as a result of the strikes on the facilities. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran is currently assessing whether it is possible to gain access to them and what their condition is,” Araghchi said.
According to him, after the assessment is completed, a report will be prepared for the Supreme National Security Council, which will decide on further steps based on the country’s interests and security threats.
The diplomat also stressed that if the UN Security Council reimposes sanctions, Iran’s response will be decisive.
“The Supreme National Security Council will determine the form and nature of this response, since this issue has become one of the most important topics of the country’s foreign policy today,” Araghchi noted.
Araghchi also said that the agreement signed earlier in Cairo with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) does not yet provide for inspections.
“Future inspections will require additional negotiations and approval by the Supreme National Security Council,” he added.
