Iran has resumed cooperation with the IAEA. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have agreed on the terms for the resumption of inspections in the country and signed a new agreement, Iranian media reported.
The Iran-IAEA agreement takes into account the requirements of the IAEA and Tehran on security issues, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
“This agreement creates a practical cooperation mechanism that reflects Iran’s unique security conditions, as well as the agency’s technical requirements,” he said at a press conference.
According to him, Iran has shown goodwill by resuming cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Araghchi added that he and the IAEA Director General have agreed on practical steps to implement the international organization’s safeguards, which include a system of inspections of Iran’s nuclear activities in full compliance with the legislation previously adopted by Tehran.
The agreement, he added, creates a framework for continued cooperation and ensures Iran’s inalienable rights.
After the US and Israeli attacks, Iran suspended cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, but noted that the parties were trying to develop a new model of collaboration.
