A new study from Stanford University reveals that the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) is not only transforming the labor market but also reducing job opportunities, particularly among young people.
The study spanned the period from 2021 to 2025. During this period, overall employment increased; however, employment growth for workers aged 22-25 ceased as early as late 2022, coinciding with the widespread adoption of ChatGPT and a new generation of AI tools.
The main conclusion of the study is clear: AI poses a danger to industries where it automates human work, rather than helping people do it more efficiently. In professions where AI complements human skills, jobs have been preserved or even expanded. However, there is also good news: in professions where AI assists workers rather than replacing them, there has been no negative impact on wages. In addition, sectors that involve human contact, care, physical labor, or creativity are generally less impacted by the effects of AI.
