The chairman of the “For the Sake of the Fatherland” party, Arman Babajanyan, wrote on his Facebook page:
“Azerbaijan has turned its foreign policy into an offensive advantage thanks to oil and gas, Turkey is strengthening its regional dominance with its economic and military potential, and Georgia has become a transport and financial center with the support of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Thanks to the peace agreements signed in Washington, after the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Western project that bypassed Armenia, Armenia is facing a second historic opportunity. It is not just about a pipeline or a communication route, but about consolidating Armenia’s place in a new regional system. The agreements allow us to establish sovereignty based on international law, open borders, and transparent economic ties. This is our real opportunity to break the deadlock and create a solid foundation for statehood.
Armenia needs determination and political wisdom today. The Washington agreements should become the starting point of a new era of our statehood. This is our second chance, and losing it would be tantamount to giving up our future.
We lost the first chance after the victory in the first Artsakh war, wasting it on corruption, irresponsible governance, oppression, and enslavement of the people. But we must make the second chance a source of real strength and a guideline for building a new Armenia. On this path, we will not tolerate incompetence, mediocrity, or self-affirming adventurism at the expense of statehood. Armenia cannot breathe under conditions of defective governance. Its breathing must be ensured by knowledge, professionalism, and justice.
We must unite and return to Armenia the best intellectual and professional potential of our people, from Russia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. The involvement of the best specialists from the Diaspora is a mandatory condition if we want to implement institutional transformation and open the paths of development of the country.
They are our unused hidden power; they are the new breath of Armenia. And if we find and solve the problem of Armenia’s breathing this time, it will become not just a passing opportunity, but a solid foundation for a lasting state.”
