Vahram Atanesyan, a former member of the Supreme Council of Armenia and the National Assembly of Nagorno-Karabakh, wrote on his Facebook page:
“For almost a day now, whoever is not lazy is talking about the Armenian-Azerbaijani treaty. They are mainly asking primitive-populist questions: “When will the Azerbaijani troops leave the sovereign territory of Armenia?” or “Why is there no talk of prisoners of war?” or “Why is the issue of the return of Artsakh not being resolved?” etc.
No one is interested in how Aliyev is going to sign a treaty that completely contradicts the current constitution of his country. According to the treaty, Azerbaijan recognizes the legal succession of the Azeri SSR, while according to the constitution, it is the legal successor of the ARF that existed in 1918-20. Has this issue been discussed between the parties? Will Azerbaijan change the constitution, or will the Constitutional Court make a separate ruling that the ARF succession is purely symbolic, does not imply legal and political consequences?
The question is this: there is nothing dangerous for Armenia in the seventeen articles and the preamble of the agreement. And here is the mentioned issue that may cause complications.”
