Armenia is being lifted from the blockade, and Azerbaijan, in turn, is getting the opportunity to have a reliable connection with Nakhichevan through the territory of Armenia. This was stated today in Washington by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, responding to questions sent in advance by Armenian media.
“Armenia is getting the opportunity to have a railway connection with Syunik region through the territory of Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan. Armenia is getting access to the international railway network to Russia, to Iran, to Central Asia, to China,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, if tens of thousands of citizens of Armenia and Azerbaijan use each other’s transport infrastructures, including bilateral trade, this will be one of the most reliable guarantees of security, peace, and stability.
“There will be many interesting projects: gas pipelines, oil pipelines, power lines, Internet cables, etc. But whatever happens, whether the pipeline is for gas or oil, whether it is painted white or black, it must operate within the framework of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia,” he said.
Pashinyan, answering Radar Armenia’s question, noted that at the moment, there are only those documents that have been signed. There is no other document, no agreement.
“Whatever the solutions in the future, which of course there will be talks about, must be placed within the framework of the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction, and reciprocity must work. We have not gone into details at this stage,” he said.
Addressing the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, the Prime Minister said:
“We have gone through a challenging path together; in fact, we have gone through hell, and I hope that the citizens of the Republic of Armenia will unite around the peace agenda. That will be a new, no less important revolution from the point of view of the future of our country.”
