Turkey has not and will not allow the division of Syria. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated this after a cabinet meeting held at the presidential complex in Ankara on July 17.
“We did not agree to the division of Syria yesterday, nor today, and we will categorically not agree tomorrow. Those who descend from the well, holding on to the rope of Israel, will sooner or later realize what a serious mistake they have made,” the Turkish leader emphasized.
The head of state called Israel a rule-breaking, unprincipled, arrogant, pampered, and desperate terrorist state. Erdogan noted that Israel, using the Druze as a pretext, has moved the banditry zone to neighboring Syria over the past two days.
The head of state emphasized that the biggest problem in the region at this stage is Israeli aggression. A stable Syria will provide stability for all surrounding countries; otherwise, everyone will bear the burden, the Turkish leader said.
“Both the Kurds within our country’s borders and the Kurds in Syria are our brothers. We will not allow them to become objects in the hands of the Zionists,” Erdogan continued.
According to him, Turkish ministries and security agencies are in constant contact with their Syrian counterparts.
“We are closely following the developments in Syria. Protecting the territorial integrity, national unity, unitary structure, and multicultural identity of neighboring Syria is our fundamental policy,” he said.
Erdogan assured that Turkey does not harbor hostility and does not encroach on anyone’s rights, law, or sovereignty, but wants peace.
“With our dignified foreign policy, peace-making efforts, and diplomatic ties, we stand on the side of peace and tranquility,” the president concluded.
