The signing ceremony for the “Armenia – Resilient Syunik Program” financing agreement took place at the European Investment Bank headquarters in Luxembourg, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Nadia Calvino, President of the European Investment Bank. Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan and EIB Vice President Teresa Czerwinska signed the agreement.
The program envisioned by the €50 million loan agreement will contribute to the continuous development of the Syunik region of the Republic of Armenia, focusing on the region’s economic growth and infrastructure improvements in the fields of water supply, healthcare, and education.
The program will also contribute to meeting the needs of displaced persons and host communities residing in the Syunik region, ensuring decent living conditions.
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan delivered a welcoming speech during the event, highlighting the importance of signing the “Resilient Syunik” framework loan agreement and thanking the EIB partners for their work in preparing the agreement, wishing for the effective implementation of this vital program.
“The cooperation between the Government of Armenia and the Bank comes to strengthen the Armenia-European Union political dialogue, which has entered a more intensive phase these days, and the expanding partnership agenda, which is based on common approaches to sustainable development, economic growth, and increasing the resilience of the region,” noted Mher Grigoryan.
Within the framework of his visit to Luxembourg, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan held meetings with Nadia Calvino, President of the European Investment Bank, and Teresa Czerwinska, Vice President. During the sessions, prospects for developing cooperation with the EIB and implementing joint programs were discussed.
