Israeli forces fired warning shots at a delegation of international diplomats in the city of Jenin. According to global media, the incident occurred when the delegation, which included representatives of the European Union, Great Britain, Russia, and China, visited Jenin.
According to the Palestinian authorities, the diplomats were in the city to familiarize themselves with the situation on the ground when Israeli soldiers opened fire on them.
The Israeli army says that the delegation deviated from a previously agreed route, which forced the soldiers to open fire to remove them from the territory.
More than a dozen governments have reacted harshly to the incident, condemning Israel’s actions and describing them as unacceptable. The Israeli side emphasizes that the shots were exclusively warning and had no intention of harming the diplomats.
