Daniel Ioannisyan, head of the “Union of Informed Citizens” organization, wrote:
“Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Serzh Sargsyan, and Nikol Pashinyan, despite their various problems, tried to reduce or manage Russia’s leverage over Armenia. One succeeded, another not so much, and the third could have grown too much. But all three were trying to do it more or less.
Robert Kocharyan did the opposite. He did everything he could to deepen Armenia’s dependence. For example, how could Kocharyan allow the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline to have a diameter of 1200 mm, which would have given Armenia an alternative to Russian gas?
Kocharyan is still criticizing the Armenian army’s artillery transition from the Russian 152 mm caliber to the world-class 155 mm caliber. How can he not criticize something that will allow us to get rid of the Russian monopoly on purchasing artillery and shells and have a wide choice, from Korea and India to France and the USA?
PS: In general, all those who say that we “betrayed” Russia by recognizing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in Prague in October 2022 want the public to forget that a month before that, in September 2022, Azerbaijan, with Russia’s political support and tacit consent, attacked Armenia. Those who fail this fact, led by Kocharyan, are representatives of Russian interests.”
