Keith Kellogg, the US President’s special representative for Ukraine, presented the idea of creating a temporary demilitarized zone between Ukraine and Russia on Fox News, which both sides would control. According to him, Ukraine is ready to make such a zone.
“They are ready to create a demilitarized zone for a certain period. They said we are withdrawing 15 km, and the Russians are another 15 km. A 30 km neutral zone is being created, which is strictly controlled. Violations can be monitored. I believe it can be extended if we maintain peace for 30 days. As a military man, I will say that it is difficult to resume the war after peace. I do not think they will start fighting again,” Kellogg said.
Earlier, Kellogg reported that during the negotiations in London, the Ukrainian and US delegations agreed on a list of 22 “concrete” actions that could serve as the basis for further agreements on the war’s settlement.
