India conducted missile strikes in Pakistani-controlled areas early in the morning, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people, according to Pakistani security officials.
The missiles hit several locations, damaging four mosques and a medical center, as reported by Pakistani authorities.
The Indian military announced that the strikes were part of a military operation codenamed “Sindoor,” which aimed to target militant infrastructure inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. An official statement from the Indian military indicated, “Operation Sindoor has been launched to target terrorist infrastructure used to plan and carry out attacks against Indian territory.”
Additionally, the Indian army reported that at least three civilians were killed due to shelling from Pakistan in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
These incidents followed allegations from Delhi that Islamabad supported militants who attacked tourists in Kashmir two weeks prior, resulting in the deaths of 26 people.
