Amin Taraffo, advisor to the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, announced that Iran is proposing to create a transit corridor between Azerbaijan and Georgia within the framework of TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia).
According to him, this initiative was voiced during the recent visit of the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development to Azerbaijan and was approved by officials.
TRACECA is an international cooperation program between the European Union and partner countries. It aims to develop economic relations, trade, and transport communications in the Black Sea Basin, South Caucasus, and Central Asia regions through active actions based on all participating countries’ political will and common aspirations.
Today, the TRACECA international transport corridor includes the transport systems of 14 countries participating in the Multilateral Basic Agreement on International Transport for the Development of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Corridor (BMA TRACECA): Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
