The French Foreign Minister has announced that the EU is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia if Moscow refuses to accept the ceasefire.
The European Union is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia, which it plans to coordinate with the United States if Moscow continues to refuse the ceasefire in Ukraine, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot told AFP.
“We Europeans will support this American initiative with the seventeenth package of sanctions. I promised Senator Lindsey Graham yesterday that we will try to coordinate these two sanctions packages, both in terms of content and timing,” Barrot said.
Details on what could be included in the new package of sanctions were not reported.
The French Foreign Minister considers Vladimir Putin “the only obstacle” to peace in Ukraine, noting that Kyiv “has fulfilled its part of the deal.”
