The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has updated its global seasonal forecast for May-June-July 2025.
January-March 2025 – Ocean surface temperatures remained above normal in most regions, except for the equatorial central part of the Pacific Ocean.
May-July 2025 – Sea surface temperatures are expected to be close to average. The El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) will be in a neutral phase.
In the equatorial part of the Atlantic Ocean, water surface temperatures will remain slightly above normal in the northern and southern regions.
Air Temperature
Given the expected continued warming of the ocean (except for some areas of the Pacific Ocean), above-normal temperatures are forecast for almost all continental regions.

The distribution of precipitation in the equatorial Pacific is similar to weak La Niña conditions despite the neutral forecast of the Niño indices.
