CNN reports that the Trump administration has expressed its readiness to recognize Russian control over Crimea as part of a US proposal to end the war in Ukraine.
Kyiv did not immediately comment on the issue.
According to a CNN source, the proposal also includes a ceasefire for peace. The plan was discussed with Europeans and Ukrainians in Paris on Thursday. It was also presented to the Russian Federation during a phone call between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
According to the same source, some plan details still need to be clarified, and the US plans to continue working with Europeans and Ukrainians in London next week.
