US President Donald Trump has again criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, this time on the topic of Crimea.
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky boasts on the front page of The Wall Street Journal that Ukraine does not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea; there is nothing to talk about in this regard. This statement harms peace talks with Russia because Crimea was lost many years ago under President Barack Obama, and this is not even a topic for discussion.
No one is asking Zelensky to recognize Crimea as Russian territory, but if he wants Crimea, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years ago, when it was handed over to Russia without a single shot being fired? Statements like this from Zelensky are why this war is so brutal to resolve. He has nothing to brag about.
The situation in Ukraine is terrible. “A man left with no cards can make peace or fight for another 3 years until he loses his entire country. I have nothing to do with Russia, but I do have a desire to save an average of 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week who are dying for no reason,” the US president said.
