Chinese President Xi Jinping said the two sides should continue to strengthen political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and strengthen coordination in the international arena during a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Beijing.
The Chinese president also stressed that strong mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests is a good tradition of China and Azerbaijan and a necessary foundation for strategic partnership.
“The Chinese side supports Azerbaijan’s efforts to safeguard national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity and to continue on the path of development in line with national characteristics,” he said.
Speaking about the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, Xi Jinping noted that its construction has already borne significant fruits.
“We need to optimize high-level strategic planning, strengthen the integration of development strategies, improve cooperation mechanisms, tap potential, deepen and expand the joint construction of “One Belt, One Road,” and achieve high-quality development,” the Chinese leader added.
