“We tried to go a little further with Minister Bayramov in Antalya. It would be an exaggeration to say that we have a final solution or agreement, but I think the conversation should continue,” Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s demand to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, he stated: “In the event of ending the de facto conflict de jure, announcing its institutional end, for example, by signing a peace agreement, then we will not need an international format that is called to deal with that conflict. Therefore, the existence of the OSCE Minsk Group will not bring any added value; on the contrary, it may have a negative impact in the event of a settled conflict and a signed agreement. That is why we favor and are open to the process of dissolving that format. We can sign these documents on the same day, in whatever sequence they wish.”
As for the demand to change the Armenian constitution, Mirzoyan said there has been much talk about it: “We need to understand how sincere Azerbaijan’s concerns are. If this is just a tool, a rhetorical device used by Azerbaijan to delay negotiations and not have a signed peace, this is one situation. If they sincerely see concern, this is another situation.”
