Prospects for cooperation between Armenia and Germany discussed

Today, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, received a delegation led by the Minister of Culture of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, Rainer Robray.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Artur Martirosyan also participated in the meeting.

Zhanna Andreasyan thanked the guests for their practical cooperation, emphasizing the strengthening of ties between the two friendly countries and the opportunity to implement joint programs in education and culture.

Touching upon cooperation in education, Zhanna Andreasyan noted that interest in the German language is gradually growing in Armenia. About 40 thousand students study German in Armenian schools. Several general education institutions in Armenia and Germany have been recognized as sister schools and conduct mutual visits, increasing the opportunities to exchange experiences and implement joint programs.

The Minister of Education, Science, and Technology also emphasized effective vocational education and training cooperation. In this context, Zhanna Andreasyan touched upon initiatives aimed at developing professional orientation and implementing new professional programs in the construction sector, which are being implemented in cooperation with the Leipzig Chamber of Crafts.

Rainer Robra, Minister of Culture of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, expressed gratitude for the cooperation and readiness to invest efforts to deepen it further.

“Relations with Armenia have traditionally been effective, but I think that especially now we are at a qualitatively high level of relations,” said Rainer Robra, informing that an exhibition dedicated to one of the artists of Saxony-Anhalt will open at the History Museum of Armenia.

Referring to cooperation in the field of culture, Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the potential for collaboration in the museum sector in particular. The Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism proposed considering the interaction and exchange of experience between the relevant structures of the two countries, cooperation between museums, and the organization of joint exhibitions. Zhanna Andreasyan also informed us that the Cultural Development Fund operates in Armenia and aims to improve museum management efficiency.

The parties also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in monument preservation and archaeology. Expeditions from Armenia and Germany are currently conducting joint excavations at various ancient sites.

The cinema sector was also mentioned as a separate direction of cooperation. Zhanna Andreasyan informed us that in the case of joint film production, a cash rebate model of up to 40 percent will be applied, which will stimulate cooperation in this direction.

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed holding cultural days in both countries to activate cultural life and raise public awareness. The parties also discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation within the framework of the European Union’s “Creative Europe” program.

The sides also touched upon the prospects for cooperation in the fields of training, exchange of experience, capacity building of German language teachers, and other issues of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture reports.
