President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Presidential Palace. Steinmeier arrived in Armenia on an official visit.
The two countries’ presidents first had a private meeting, which was followed by an expanded meeting of their delegations.
Many issues related to the expansion and deepening of multi-sectoral cooperation between the two countries were discussed during the meeting. The parties emphasized the importance of more effective organization of cooperation both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union, paying special attention to the deepening of relations in the economic, educational, cultural, and scientific spheres.
During the meeting, the importance of implementing joint programs in the energy sector was emphasized, as well as the need to form new perspectives and strengthen partnership ties.
The parties were willing to continue joint efforts based on constructive dialogue, mutually beneficial initiatives, and strong cooperation.
At the end of the meetings, agreements were signed between the two countries. Accordingly, an agreement was signed on the “Financial Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany,” which was signed on the Armenian side by the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, and on the German side by the German Ambassador to Armenia, Claudia Busch.
The mayors of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, and Leipzig, Burkhard Jung, also signed an agreement on the “Implementation of a Cultural Year between the Cities of Yerevan and Leipzig.”
