Reuters writes that Russia has presented the United States with a list of demands for an agreement to end the war in Ukraine and restore relations with Washington.
It is unclear what Moscow has included in the list and whether it is ready to hold peace talks with Kyiv before accepting them.
According to the media outlet’s sources, Russian and American officials have discussed these conditions in personal meetings and virtual discussions over the past three weeks.
They described the Kremlin’s demands as broad and similar to those previously made to Ukraine, the United States, and NATO.
Reuters recalls that Russia has previously demanded that Ukraine abandon its NATO membership, sign an agreement banning the deployment of foreign troops on Ukrainian territory, and international recognition of Vladimir Putin’s declaration that Crimea and four regions belong to Russia.
In recent years, Moscow has also demanded that the United States and NATO eliminate the “root causes” of the war, including the alliance’s eastern expansion.
