Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s congratulatory message on International Women’s Day
Dear women: grandmothers, mothers, sisters, daughters,
I congratulate you all on March 8, International Women’s Day. This day is a harbinger of spring in Armenia, and on March 8, our country is flooded with flowers and a festive mood.
The significance of March 8 in our country has also increased because women make up the majority of the population of the Republic of Armenia. Therefore, the full inclusion of women’s potential is the most important guarantee of our state’s development. In our country, women’s involvement in all spheres of public life is visibly increasing.
This is a positive process, but a deep analysis of this phenomenon raises several concerns and challenges. As a result of several decades of consistent introduction of certain subcultures among boys, girls have become more focused on education and work, gaining competitive advantages. Shortly, the competitive advantages of women will be even more emphasized.
But the involvement of women’s potential as an important factor in the development of our state will be truly effective if men are also fully involved and competitive. The current processes are a wake-up call to all of us, including mothers and fathers, that we also pay great attention to the issues of education and competitiveness of boys; otherwise, it will turn out that we are not using our full potential again.
The activation of women in public and economic life brings with it another challenge. They may have less and less “time” to have children, and this is also an issue that should be at the center of our attention and reflection.
Dear people, dear citizens,
March 8 should also be a day of public solidarity, and it is becoming increasingly so. The culture of sexual competition, struggle, or dominance is old and unviable. Respect, appreciation, encouragement of creative efforts, education, and work are increasingly emphasized in the relations between our women and men, and this is encouraging.
It is on this foundation that our public relations should be built. After all, beyond the flowers of March 8 is the state of the homeland, which should be as blooming as March 8.
