Poland has begun deporting Georgian citizens and other foreigners who have broken the law while in the country.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stressed that Georgian gangs will be a primary target, as they are “very active.”
According to Gazeta Prawna, 17 Georgian citizens were on the plane from Krakow to be deported.
“The deportation has begun. We have successfully crushed Georgian gangs. Not words, but deeds,” Tusk wrote on his “X” page, posting footage of the deportation of the detainees.
The Polish border service said the deportees are men aged 24-58. Among them are people convicted of theft who violated the rules of staying in Poland or illegally crossed the state border.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Georgian citizens were detained in Poland 1,895 times last year. At the beginning of this year, 322 Georgian citizens were being held in Polish prisons.
