President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met with President of the Republic of Peru Dina Buluarte in Lima as part of his working visit to Latin America.
Welcoming the President, Dina Buluarte particularly emphasized that the President of Armenia is visiting Peru for the first time in history. This visit testifies to the aspiration of the two countries to strengthen friendship and cooperation and will provide a new impetus for the closer and expansion of relations between the states representing two ancient civilizations.
The President expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of high-level mutual visits between the two countries to find common ground for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the two countries’ presidents emphasized the importance of effective cooperation on various international platforms, including within the Forum of Ancient Civilizations framework, and the use of opportunities to promote the latter. They also discussed the issues of preserving and mutually presenting cultural heritage as an important component of bilateral relations.
Reference was made to the liberalization of the visa regime between the country’s steps to activate. The parties agreed that introducing visa-free mechanisms would facilitate citizens’ mutual visits and stimulate an increase in tourist flows, contributing to strengthening human ties between the two states.
The President of Peru congratulated the President of Armenia on the upcoming holding of the UN Conference on Biological Diversity, COP-17, in Armenia. In this context, President Khachaturyan stressed that our country would be happy to see Peru’s presence at the conference at the highest possible level.
The interlocutors unequivocally emphasized the invaluable role of peacebuilding. The two countries’ leaders agreed that sustainable development and prosperity are possible only in a peaceful and predictable environment, which requires continuous efforts from the international community.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on activating cooperation in political, economic, cultural, tourism, and other areas. Continuing political consultations, which began last year, were emphasized in this context. The Presidents agreed to promote interdepartmental ties and support joint initiatives to expand bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the two countries’ leaders reaffirmed their readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation. They expressed their conviction that Armenia-Peru relations have great potential for development, the realization of which will benefit both states and peoples.
