Starting from February 28, the border service at the “Margara” crossing point on the Armenia-Turkey state border will be carried out exclusively by the forces of the RA Border Guard Troops. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, announced this.
“The “Margara” crossing point is not operational due to the closure of the state border between Armenia and Turkey. In the summer of 2022, the Government of the Republic of Armenia decided to completely renovate the crossing point, and permanent service began there with the Russian Border Guard Troops.
I would like to thank the Russian Federal Service Border Guard Troops for their service on this section of the Armenia-Turkey state border.
“The transfer of the “Margara” border point under the responsibility of the RA Border Guard Troops means that from March 1, 2025, border control of all people entering and leaving the Republic of Armenia will be carried out exclusively by the forces of the Border Guard Troops of the Republic of Armenia, because only the RA Border Guard Troops carry out service at all such points (operating and non-operating),” the Prime Minister’s note says.
