According to Bloomberg, the American corporation Tesla will launch an autopilot system in China in the coming days.
According to the agency’s sources, Tesla will launch a new Full Self-Driving (FSD) service in China “shortly.” Electric car owners will be able to use FSD on public roads. Although Tesla calls its service Autopilot, during the system’s operation, the driver must keep his hands on the wheel and be ready to take control at any time.
The Autopilot service access package costs 64 thousand yuan, or about 9 thousand dollars. According to the company’s source, Tesla has already prepared marketing materials detailing that FSD can make turns, change lanes, and respond to traffic lights independently.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has long wanted to launch an autopilot service in China to make his electric cars more attractive to the local auto industry. According to sources, before launching the FSD system, approval from Chinese authorities must be obtained. Musk’s company has likely already received such permission.
