Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a press conference that Ukraine has received $100 billion in aid from the United States, not $350 billion.
“Europe and its partners provided $100 billion, the United States provided $100 billion, not $500, not $300, not $700. We do not recognize a $500 billion debt,” he said.
According to the Ukrainian president, US President Donald Trump is not eternal, and they need long-term peace.
“Strategic partners should be willing to sign agreements, and I want our agreement with the United States to be without scandals,” he said, adding that security guarantees should be spelled out in the agreement, not just in words.
Zelensky stressed that he was not ready to give up the money initially given as grants, which turned into debts. He said he would not sign a document for which entire generations of Ukrainians would have to pay.
The Ukrainian president added that he was not offended by the word “violent,” as Trump called him: “Those who are truly dictators are offended.”
