The clinical picture of Pope Francis’s health is complex: tests have shown incipient bilateral pneumonia, which requires further drug therapy, the Holy See press service reported.
“Laboratory tests, chest X-rays, and clinical condition continue to present a complex picture. The polymicrobial infection, which arose against the background of bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis and required antibiotic therapy with cortisone, complicates the treatment,” the statement said.
Nevertheless, the Pope is in good spirits: He received communion in the morning and prayed and read during the day.
On Monday, the Holy See press service reported that tests carried out at the hospital revealed a respiratory polymicrobial infection.
