Export promotion assistance program approved

The Executive has approved the Program for Providing Assistance for the Promotion of Exports. It has been determined that the assistance provided by the program approved by point 1 of this decision will be provided for exports made from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026, inclusive.

The decision will enable a resident organization or an individual entrepreneur registered in the Republic of Armenia to export goods originating in the Republic of Armenia and receive assistance to position themselves in export markets and present their own products in the initial period. It should be noted that the assistance will be provided to certain target product groups and will be temporary in nature.

To introduce a practical and straightforward system for calculating the amount of assistance, it is planned to take as a basis the amount calculated at the customs value of the goods declaration of the exporting country and the customs duty rate applied in the importing country. Moreover, the assistance will be provided in the amount calculated by the customs duty rate established for that product by the legislation of the importing country; if a zero customs duty rate is not established for the import of the given product in the importing country, as well as the customs duty rates established for anti-dumping, if any, for those product groups will not be taken into account during the calculation.

The European Union member states and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have been selected as export countries since these markets require high standards. If temporary assistance is provided in those markets, local companies will position themselves by bringing their products into line with the above-mentioned standards, becoming more competitive.

The decision will provide an opportunity to promote the export of Armenian-made products to the international market, increase export volumes, and contribute to the recognition of the Armenian brand. It should be noted that for the export of goods specified in the project to the European Union member states and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, according to estimates, the maximum amount of support will be about 15 billion drams per year. At the same time, it is planned that in the case of the support above, the export volumes of the target goods specified in the project will increase by about 15% next year (the expected growth in volumes was also taken into account when calculating the annual forecast amount of support).

Mher Grigoryan emphasized that manufacturers should focus their efforts and investments on quality. With adequate quality, numerous mechanisms can be applied to stimulate volume movement, logistical solutions, etc. The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of monitoring to understand the results the decision has led to.
