Making Armenia closer to European standards

RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Head of the European Union Delegation, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, jointly hosted a high-level event in Yerevan dedicated to the seventh anniversary of the signing of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement.

Diplomatic representatives of the RA government, the National Assembly, the EU delegation in Armenia, and representatives of the GAC civil society platform were invited to participate in the event.

Deputy Prime Minister Grigoryan emphasized the importance of the GCC in strengthening the partnership with the EU, Armenia’s progress, and its impact on the quality of life of RA citizens.

“The GCC reflects our shared values and ambitions for sustainable development. It is about building long-term and mutually beneficial relations with Europe. The agreement is a guide for promoting democracy and human rights in Armenia. For bilateral cooperation in investments, public administration reforms, and environmental protection. The progress of implementing this agreement will be measured not by technical, formal records or political statements but by the real impact of the reforms arising from the GAC on the citizen’s standard of living,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Ambassador Maragos emphasized that the GCC is the cornerstone of EU-Armenia relations and gives impetus to the reforms and modernization implemented in the country, which align with Armenia’s long-term strategic vision.

“The Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement underlines our shared commitment to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. It provides a strong framework for enhanced EU-Armenia cooperation in the political, economic, and other fields. To bring positive changes to people’s lives during this period, we worked intensively to fully reveal the agreement’s potential and bring our bilateral relations to a higher level. This year, we launched the Resilience and Growth Program, the European Peace Fund, and the visa liberalization dialogue, strengthening the ties between our peoples. At the same time, the EU continues to support Armenia’s reforms, infrastructure, and regional development, bringing Armenia closer to European standards. Together, we are committed to promoting progress and commitment to achieving our ambitious goals,” the EU ambassador noted.

The EU Delegation to Armenia and the Government of Armenia reaffirmed their joint commitment to continue successful cooperation within the framework of the GCC, marking the occasion as a testament to the deepening ties between the EU and Armenia.
