French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk issued a joint statement on the current political situation in Georgia.
“Until Georgia reverses its current course and shows efforts in terms of tangible reforms, in particular by withdrawing recently adopted legislation that contradicts European values and principles, we will not be able to support the start of negotiations on EU membership,” the joint statement said.
The three leaders’ statements came after reports that around 50 European leaders will gather in Budapest on Thursday and Friday to discuss aid to Ukraine, migration, economic security, and the EU’s declining competitiveness.
