The President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, met with the Prince of Saudi Arabia, Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Chairman of the Arab Gulf Regional Development Fund and the Arab Council for Children’s Development.
The Prince visited Armenia within the framework of the international conference entitled “The Road to Social Justice, Decent Work,” held on November 5 at the initiative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. Welcoming the guests, the president thanked them for visiting Armenia and participating in the international conference.
“We are well aware of your humanitarian activities and your foundation, and we value them very highly. Social justice is really lacking in the world today, which leads to serious problems. Your activity contributes to preventing these problems, which is a very important mission,” said the president.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, His Royal Highness the Prince noted that he is very happy to visit Armenia for the first time and sees wide opportunities and potential in the perspective of the development of relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the possibilities of deepening cooperation between the two countries were discussed, emphasizing the importance of social and educational programs, as well as youth development initiatives.
President Khachaturyan highly appreciated the humanitarian activities of Abdulaziz bin Talal and his support in the direction of poverty alleviation and educational reforms. He noted that it is important for Armenia to have such partners who share the goals of sustainable development and the establishment and progress of social justice.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the need to establish peace in the region. The role of civil society as an important factor in guaranteeing effective governance and accountability was emphasized. The parties noted with satisfaction the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which creates an opportunity for further development of bilateral cooperation.
They referred to the wide possibilities of implementing the potential of interaction between Armenia and Saudi Arabia, particularly in high technologies, culture, science, education and other fields. Abdulaziz bin Talal noted that Saudi Arabia is interested in strengthening friendly ties with Armenia and is ready to support youth-oriented programs that will promote the exchange of knowledge and skills.
