Gor Sahakyan, a member of the Armenian youth weightlifting team and European adult champion, weighed 73 kg and won a gold medal in the U23 European Championship in Poland with a result of 320 kilograms in the double event (140+180 kilograms).
In the snatch exercise, Sahakyan made one successful approach and, holding the 140 kg barbell above his head, won the small bronze medal. In the push exercise, the Armenian weightlifter made two successful approaches and won a small gold medal by lifting the barbell weighing first 175 and then 180 kg.
Alexandra Grigoryan (55 kg) and Zhora Grigoryan (55 kg) won the European U20 Championship earlier. Rafik Minasyan, the other representative of Armenia in the junior 61 kg weight class, having shown a result of 264 kg in the doubles, became a silver medalist (119 + 145 kg).
61 kg Garnik Cholakyan was also awarded the title of winner in the European U23 Championship. In the duel, the Armenian weightlifter showed a result of 275 kg (125+150 kg).
