“Probably, there will be an impeachment, and I will be put in prison if that happens,” this is how Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili answered the question asked at a press conference about what will happen if “Georgian Dream” wins the elections.
According to Zurabishvili, these elections are of existential importance.
At the same time, the President of Georgia answered the question of how relations between Russia and the West will be balanced if the opposition wins the elections or whether sanctions will be imposed on Russia. According to Zurabishvili, “Georgia has never balanced the relations between Russia and the West.”
“Georgia joined the sanctions at the same level as Moldova, although there are nuances. It’s not a problem. Georgia has never balanced the relations between Russia and the West. There was a clear path followed by the “Georgian Dream” during the long period of its rule – the path of European integration because there was no alternative where Georgia would gain independence, prosperity, and peace. 90% of the population also thinks so. That’s how they supported the “Georgian path”. During the last 30 years, nothing has prevented the population from that path. That way, we will win because there is no alternative,” said Salome Zurabishvili.
