The amount of precipitation in the Lori-Tavush area was 21-30mm, in Shirak – 23-34mm, in Gegharkunik – 22-33mm, in Kotayk – 36-42mm, in Aragatsotn – 28-42mm, in Ararat and Armavir – 18-36mm, in Vayots Dzor – 13-20mm. , in Syunik: 5-12 mm.
88 mm of rain fell in the Amberd region of the Aragatsotn region, twice the monthly norm, and 26-28 mm in Yerevan, equal to the norm for the entire month.
Today, the amount of precipitation in the republic’s territory is 150-250 percent of the monthly norm.
Last night, the first snow fell in several mountain settlements of the republic.
Starting this morning, the cyclone will lose its strength and rotate in a weakened state in our region in the next five days. In the next five days, short-term precipitation, in the form of snow in the mountainous areas, is expected in some regions of the country.
The air temperature will gradually decrease by another 4-6 degrees on October 19-21, especially at night.
Due to the heavy rainfall on October 17-18, water discharge increased significantly in the republic’s rivers, particularly in the northern and northeastern regions. The discharges observed on the morning of October 18 were twice or more than the water observed on the morning of October 17 at the exits.
Thus, at the hydrological observation point in Debed-Ayr, the water output on October 18 was 43.3 m³/s. On the morning of the 17th, it was 21.9 m³/s; at the Pambak-Tumanyan observation point, the water output increased from 8.27 m³/s to 21.0 m³ /s, increased from 6.82m³/s to 25.3m³/s at the Aghstev-Ijevan observation point.
Since the precipitation was observed in snow in the higher parts of the river basins at night, this prevented the formation of unfavorable water discharges in the rivers.
Due to the decrease in air temperature and the cessation of heavy rainfall, water discharges in the republic’s rivers are expected to decrease in the coming days.
