Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Director of the Armenian mission of the United States Agency for International Development, John Alelo, signed the amendment to the development cooperation grant agreement between Armenia and the USA. As a result of the latter, the threshold of the amount provided under the USAID agreement has more than doubled, from 120 million dollars to 250 million dollars, and the areas of joint projects have expanded.
The expanded agreement will cover critical areas such as disaster risk management, cyber security, food and energy security, regional cooperation and trade, democratic processes, and inclusive economic development.
“What is important for Armenia is not only financial support but also democratic values, creative ideas, and developed business culture promoted as a result of our joint programs. The investment of the latter in our country allows us to carry out fundamental reforms and increase citizens’ quality of life,” said Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, thanking the US for supporting the implementation of Armenia’s agenda of ambitious reforms.
“This change shows our commitment to our partnership with Armenia. By increasing our support and expanding our programs, we are helping Armenia grow and succeed. Our work with the Armenian government and ministries has a crucial role in achieving our common goals,” said USAID Armenia Mission Director John Allelo.
