Citing the organization’s statement, on August 18, the DPA agency reported that Hamas had rejected proposals for the latest round of indirect talks on a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
As follows from the message, the movement’s representatives refused to accept the new demands put forward by the Israeli side. “Having learned from the mediators what was discussed at the last round of negotiations in Doha, we once again became convinced that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu continues to put obstacles on the way to the agreement,” the agency quoted the organization as saying. According to them, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will “impose new conditions and demands to torpedo the efforts of the mediators and prolong the war.”
Hamas is reportedly particularly unhappy with Israel’s intention to maintain a military presence at several points in the Gaza Strip, including the Philadelphia Corridor, which runs along the strip’s border with Egypt.
