Resident embassies will be opened in Yerevan and Nicosia

Within the framework of his working visit to Nicosia, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, on July 29.

The agenda of political dialogue between the two countries at the high level and regional issues was discussed at the meeting.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the President of Cyprus emphasized the importance of the mutually agreed decision to open resident embassies in Yerevan and Nicosia in terms of expanding the partnership between the two countries, enriching the agenda in new directions, and ensuring the continuity of tangible results. Ararat Mirzoyan noted the willingness to implement new initiatives in areas of mutual interest, particularly in promoting the economy, high technologies, and tourism.

Bilateral and multilateral formats emphasize the importance of close cooperation between the two countries in the current complex geopolitical conditions.

Reference was also made to joint efforts further to deepen Armenia’s comprehensive partnership with the European Union.

In the context of regional developments, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan presented the RA’s approaches to normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the signing of a peace treaty recognizing territorial integrity, ensuring the continuity of border demarcation based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.

The importance of implementing the “Crossroads of Peace” project of broader regional significance and the issues of cooperation with international partners in that direction were mentioned.
