Turkey will continue to conduct an active policy on regional and global issues. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced this in a conversation with journalists on the plane after returning from the NATO summit in New York.
He spoke in detail about the current issues on the agenda and the details of the negotiations within the framework of the NATO summit in Washington.
According to Anadolu, the head of Turkey, regulating relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia will serve the interests of all parties. Commenting on the opening of the “Zangezur Corridor,” he noted that the corridor is strategically essential and will satisfy the interests of all parties, especially Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Iran.
According to the Azerbaijani mass media, Erdogan did not rule out the border opening with Armenia.
“Why don’t we consider the issue of [opening the border]?” Previously, we told [RA Prime Minister Nikol] Pashinyan everything about this. Now, we must do everything for peace. We hope that soon peace will be established between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The opening of the Zangezur Corridor is the final step of this agreement, which Turkey wholeheartedly supports. We want positive decisions to be made without delay along the way. Now positive signals are coming from the region, and we hope they will eventually bring good news,” said Erdogan.
In answering the relevant question, he noted that he should have discussed the issue of the Zangezur Corridor with the elected president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
