On July 11, Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to RA Kristina Kvien visited the patrol service battalion of Syunik Marz.
The US Embassy donated 900 emergency first aid kits to the Patrol Service, 700 for patrol vehicles, and 200 for pedestrians.
Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan thanked the government of the United States of America for the support shown in the creation and establishment of the Patrol Service, noting that due to the multifaceted support, the planning and implementation of strategic steps for the establishment of the Patrol Service became possible. The results of the surveys delegated by the International Republican Institute and the OSCE are proof of the achievements—62 percent of satisfaction and 72 percent of trust.
In his speech, the minister emphasized that today, the Patrol Service units control road traffic and effectively fight crime by identifying and preventing crimes of various nature, danger, and severity and discovering illegally stored weapons, ammunition, and narcotics.
Vahe Ghazaryan expressed his satisfaction with the American side for its support in establishing the Water Patrol Service, noting that the service is equipped with modern equipment and weapons.
The Minister of Internal Affairs also expressed his gratitude for the Patrol Service’s regular support, emphasizing that bilateral cooperation has the potential to expand and target new directions.
US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Kristina Kvien also gave a speech.
“It’s nice to be in Syunik again. The last time I was there was in October, in connection with the launch of the patrol service in Syunik. Patrol officers have diligently built strong relationships with citizens, ensuring public order and safety. We are aware of the great responsibility that the patrols assume as representatives of law enforcement agencies, and we are ready to continue supporting the Patrol Service,” the ambassador noted.
Referring to the US Embassy’s regular donation, Christina Quinn emphasized that it complements the US government’s previous support for creating and establishing the Patrol Service and will contribute to providing first aid to the public.
Vahe Ghazaryan and Kristina Kvien got acquainted with the contents of emergency medical first aid kits and the patrol car’s technical and special equipment.
Then, they got acquainted with the used equipment in the battalion’s administrative building. The operational control center presented them with organizing work and technical possibilities.
