French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced that he discussed the issue of providing Mistral missiles to Armenia with Suren Papikyan. “We talked about Mistral missiles this morning. I’m not revealing a secret. These are short-range missile devices. As far as training is concerned, they are quite easy to use. We have already had a discussion that will allow us to offer the protection of that layer. We will offer air defense in the middle layer for the second layer of protection. We talked with the minister. I am merely presenting the French capabilities in armaments and training. But there is also the issue of production,” he said.
According to Lecorneau, GM-200 radars will be delivered shortly.
The minister stressed that every time they talked about defensive weapons. “When I see some of the stories presented here and there, let me remind you that the only way for air defense not to be used is for nobody to attack anybody.”
He also emphasized. “If Armenia were not threatened, we would not need these discussions. Therefore, the threats led the Armenian side to talk about defense as well.”
