Citing its sources, on February 18, the American periodical Politico reported that Ukrainians attending the Munich Security Conference expressed concern about the prospects of the Ukrainian army at the front. According to high-ranking Western figures, Ukraine will lose the war if the new package of military aid for 60 billion dollars from the United States is not approved. At the same time, many of the interlocutors of the periodical found it difficult to answer what Ukraine’s victory in the war against Russia would look like.
According to the Chairman of the Intelligence Committee of the US Congress, Senator Mark Warner from the Democratic Party, the approval of the new aid package by the House of Representatives will be a “breakthrough” for Ukraine. However, Warner did not claim that the move would ensure the country’s victory in the war but simply stated that American aid was Kyiv’s last hope. “I don’t know any other way for the Ukrainians to get the weapons they need in the short term than the United States.”
Meanwhile, Politico’s 13 interviewees lamented that the current plan to support Ukraine would merely keep the armed forces from collapsing amid ammunition and personnel shortages and the Russian forces’ seizure of Avdiivka.
