According to the Azerbaijani “Minval,” official Baku refused to receive Louis Bono, the senior advisor of the US Secretary of State for Caucasian negotiations. To remind you, Bono was in Armenia a few days ago and met with high-ranking RA officials to discuss the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process and prospects.
The US Embassy in Azerbaijan stated that Bono often visits the region to discuss US support for the peace process and ways to achieve a sustainable and just peace. “We are ready to help any process that will bring peace and stability to the people of the South Caucasus,” Bono said. However, the visit to the capital of Azerbaijan has yet to be announced. According to “Minval,” Bono’s visit to Azerbaijan was unsuccessful for several reasons.
A. Baku does not accept the settlement approaches put forward by the US in the region.
B. US regional policy must be more balanced and clear, and Baku refused to accept Bono.
G. Azerbaijan sees something other than the USA as a reliable intermediary.
