RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan referred to the RA-EU relations, saying there is still a long way to go in deepening the ties between Armenia and the European Union.
“But I want to assure you that several specific actions and programs are now on the discussion table. Some of these programs are derived, for example, from the current “CEPA/CEEC” agreement between Armenia and the European Union and programs beyond that agreement. We had the opportunity to discuss these issues both within the framework of the visit of the assessment mission sent by the European Union, during the meetings with them a month ago, and during my visit to Brussels, where I had the honor to participate in an informal meeting of the European Union’s Foreign Relations Council and interact with my colleagues, including the efforts and initiative of Greece. And this conversation is continuous,” he said.
According to Mirzoyan, despite all the challenges, Armenia continues intensive democratic reforms and continues the process of these reforms in various fields. “We are convinced that these reforms, in turn, bring Armenia closer to the European Union. I would also like to emphasize that the civilian observation mission of the European Union is of vital and paramount importance for Armenia, especially in terms of security. This is another factor that is the most important factor that ensures security and peace on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the border zone, and this is another area and a topic subject to continuous development. Most recently, the European Union decided to increase and extend the mandate of this civilian mission, which Armenia greatly welcomed. Summing up, I want to say that this is a path that we still have to take with bigger steps, more intensive steps, and, of course, with the support of Greece,” he said.
