Sargis Khandanyan, the chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, noted that Armenia favors the effectiveness of the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations. Referring to the format of the talks, Khandanyan said that the existing formats will be continuous.
“They give a certain international authority to the negotiations, make the negotiations more legitimate, and make the risks more manageable. Statements about bilateral negotiations are just statements. “I think there has been no proposal to Armenia to set a place, time, or day for negotiations with Azerbaijan,” he said.
According to Khandanyan, bilateral discussions continue on the demarcation commissions. “Yes, Armenia is ready to continue the conversation.”
When asked if it is fundamental for RA not to have bilateral negotiations, he said: “For us, the content of the negotiations and fixing the principles are of primary importance. Whether the negotiations are with the participation of mediators or bilateral, if the principles are not recorded, the agreements will not have the value we expect.”
