It is with deep sadness that we learned that at 76, one of the best football players of all time in Armenia, Ararat-73 striker Nikolay Ghazaryan, passed away.
Ghazaryan was an international master of sports, an honored figure of RA physical culture and sports, on October 10, 2013, for his significant contribution to the development of Armenian football and brilliant achievements, he was awarded the 1st degree medal “For Services to the Motherland”. In 1973, he became the champion and cup winner of the USSR as part of Yerevan “Ararat”, in 1971 and 1976 he became a silver medalist with the club. He played 295 games for Ararat, scoring 67 goals. He took part in the youth, youth and Olympic teams of the USSR. From 1992, he was a founding member of the newly created Football Federation of the Republic of Armenia, the first president of the federation until 1994.
