Azerbaijan’s APA agency published the details of the Aliyev-Blinken phone conversation.
As reported during the telephone conversation, Aliyev mentioned that the recent steps and statements taken by the USA towards Azerbaijan have seriously damaged Azerbaijani-American relations.
“The views expressed by James O’Brian during the hearings of the Foreign Relations Committee of the House of Representatives were biased, did not reflect the truth, and were rejected by Azerbaijan,” the message reads.
According to an Azerbaijani report, US Secretary of State Blinken asked Aliyev to allow US Assistant Secretary of State James O’Brian to visit Azerbaijan in December to settle relations, which Aliyev accepted on the condition that after that visit, the ban on high-ranking Azerbaijani officials visiting the US would be lifted. Secretary of State Blinken agreed.
According to the report, during the telephone conversation, Aliyev again accused the Armenian side of delaying the negotiations, noting that the Armenian side responded to the proposals in the text of the peace agreement presented on September 11 after 70 days.
During the telephone conversation, the parties also exchanged ideas regarding meeting the border delimitation commissions to be held on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border on November 30.
